Meet Dr. Munir Kureshi DVM

Even as a teenager, Dr. Kureshi knew he wanted to have a career that involved caring for animals. Pursuing his dream, he graduated from Bombay Veterinary College in 1987.

He served ECFVG internships at Animal Medical Center, New York City’s largest animal care facility, and at the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Veterinary Medicine. He has also held several externships, which include the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and clinics in Chicago, Illinois and Boulder, Colorado.

After moving to the Bay Area, Dr. Kureshi worked at several animal hospitals and an avian clinic in Los Gatos before acquiring Cupertino Animal Hospital in 1994.

Leading the Way

As a leader in veterinary medicine, Dr. Kureshi is always looking at the latest advances in veterinary medicine to provide his patients with the safest and best care.

Dr. Kureshi was the first veterinarian in the Silicon Valley to offer an alternative to general surgery by bringing the benefits of laser surgery to his practice. Laser surgery results in less pain, less bleeding, less swelling, and a quicker recovery for the patient. Laser surgery offers the extreme benefit of allowing operation in small places where conventional surgery using a scalpel cannot be performed such as the ears, mouth, nose and bladder. Laser surgery is superior to conventional surgery when it comes to removing cancerous growths as well.

Dr. Kureshi was also the first veterinarian in the Silicon Valley to use video otoscopy, acquiring his first Med Rx video otoscope in 1998. He quickly saw the benefit of using this technology, which allowed him to more accurately diagnose and treat his patients. To date Dr. Kureshi has utilized six different video otoscopes each of which has helped him develop and perfect his techniques. Currently he is working with the Storz HD scope which provides images far superior to its predecessors. Dr. Kureshi is leading the way in interventional otoscopy to provide minimally invasive approaches and techniques to help treat chronic ear issues in pets. He has pioneered the technique of combining the video otoscope and laser surgery tools to remove tumors in pet’s ears.

Dr. Kureshi treated Gin, my 5 year old Cocker Spaniel that has had untreatable ear infections since I got her at 10 months of age. Since the procedure, she has been infection free. I seriously thought that she would be living with ear infections for the rest of her life. Thank you Dr. Kureshi and team!!!
